What we store, and why
Every course on fastcourses is free and fully readable with no account. Signing in is entirely optional and only adds two things: a saved watchlist and chapter progress that follow you across devices.
Sign-in is delegated to Google— we never see or store a password. If you sign in, we keep your Google account's user id and email address, plus the course/chapter slugs you've marked complete or saved to your watchlist. That's it: no profile picture, no name, no tracking of what you read beyond explicit “mark complete” and watchlist actions.
If you never sign in, this same progress and watchlist data is tracked only in your browser's local storage — it never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data clears it too.
Cookies & analytics
Signing in sets an httpOnly session cookie so Supabase (our auth and database provider) can recognize you across page loads — no tracking or advertising cookies. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic counts, which is cookie-free and doesn't track individuals.
Deleting your data
Visit your account to permanently delete your account and every row of progress or watchlist data — or, if you never signed in, to clear the local copy from this browser. Either action is immediate and can't be undone.
